Our Club
A parent orientation will be held January 24th from 7:00 PM to 8:45 PM at the Thousand Oaks Goebel Senior Center. All parents (new and returning) are encouraged to come and meet your athlete's coach and learn about our season. A short Club information session will be followed by the introduction of team coaches and questions and answers period.
The TO Flyers, and all the Conference Clubs, are volunteer organizations with no paid employees. A parent, Guardian or their representative from each family is required to help out with the club's operation. This is done in one of the following ways: work at least one 3 – 4 hour shift at each of the four home meets and one finals meet or work as an assistant coach (help at practices on at least 2 days per week) or work as a board member or help with computer data entering/processing data or help as a team parent organizing callers, processing ribbons etc.
Our coaching staff consists entirely of parent volunteers. If you are able to help during practice for one or more afternoons a week, please contact any of the coaches. We need your help, and it’s only for one hour. We provide the necessary training. It is an experience you will find gratifying, and our children will appreciate your assistance. Your child’s coach may schedule a meeting with his or her parents to set practice days and times, choose a team manager, and organize a telephone committee for the team.
Practices and Season
Practice will begin on Tuesday, February 14th, 2012. Our practices run from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m., generally 3 - 5 days per week depending upon the age group and coach, and are held at Thousand Oaks High School. Each coach's practice schedule will be posted to the Coaches page as soon as the dates are available. Athletes are expected to attend a minimum of 2-3 practices a week or may be dropped and replaced by an athlete on the waiting list. (All or most fees will be refunded.)
Our season consists of a 4 week practice season, followed by 6 meets over a 7 week period. Three of our meets will be held at Thousand Oaks High School, and four meets will be hosted by one of the other teams in our conference. Parent participation (half-meet volunteer shifts) is mandatory for all home meets and for one of our two finals meets. Our first track meet will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2012. Please check the calendar periodically to verify the dates and locations of the meets. Following our regular meet season, our club will participate in J.V. Finals, which will be held May 15th (at Moorpark High School), and Varsity Finals, which will be held at Rio Mesa High School on Saturday, May 20th, 2012. Our annual year-end picnic will top off the season on the following Sunday, June 6th, 2010, at Conejo Creek Park from 12:00 to 2:30.
The Thousand Oaks Flyers Track Club is a Non-Profit Organization. The Non-Profit Federal I.D. is 77-0273966. The Thousand Oaks Youth Track Club is not affiliated with the Conejo Valley Unified School District.
